Today we celebrated the 50th day of school! It's hard to believe we have been in school for ten weeks, but it is flying by! We dressed up in our best 50's attire and posed for pictures..

The kids loved comparing things they did in the 50s with things they do now...
Lincoln Logs/Legos, small black and white TVs/huge color TVs, hula hoops and pogo sticks/skateboards and trampolines, etc. I think the most impressive to them was discovering that people in the 50's used records to listen to music...only one student recognized one I shared from my childhood!
We also did some writing about what we would look like when we are 50 years old.
Some of my favorites were about being legally blind, having wrinkled up skin, walking with a "stick", and forgetting things. You will have to come see them hanging in the hall soon.
After lunch we treated ourselves to Root Beer Floats!
Finally, we ended the day with some 50's math activities.
Be sure to ask your child about their favorite part of the day!
