Where are We?

The last two weeks we have been focusing on the places where we live.  Our anchor text has been Me on the Map.

We have learned about our cities (St. Simons Island and Brunswick), state, country, continent, and world.  We have done an art project,

 

sorting activity,

 

continent rap, and a map activity. 

 

Check in with your child and have them show you what they know. 

 

 

Writers Workshop

We have officially taken off with our writing program.  Each morning we meet as a class on the floor for our mini-lesson and then the kids hear the three magic words...Off You Go!  They quickly hurry back to their spot to start writing.  We are not only writing stories in first grade - we are authors and illustrators writing BOOKS!  Some of us like to write in a chair, others prefer the floor, and some even write best in the tub.  No matter where they are working, the children are writing...lots! 

 

Ask your child to share with you the steps we are using.
