100th Day of School

We made it to

As we entered the classroom, we knew it was going to be a great day!

Our room was decorated,

and the day was filled with lots of "treats"

books,

and classroom activities.  Here is just an example of one...

We took a Tootsie Pop challenge to see if it would take more or less than 100 licks to get to the middle of the lollipop. Ask your child to share about it with you...
It was so much fun!

Here are our predictions...

 Let the tallying begin...

We even had some 100 Day cupcakes to celebrate the
BIG day!

Here is what we look like after 100 Days of First Grade.  If you have time, go back and see how much we have changed since August!

Writing Celebration

Yesterday we had our Writing Celebration for our Information Unit.

Can you believe these first graders are already publishing their own chapter books?  Our celebration began discussing different ways to give compliments.  Our classroom was set up as a Writing Museum with each book arranged around the room.

Each book also had a "Writing Compliments" chart to be used as the children browsed.
Whether it be a "Great Work"... "Nice Handwriting"..."Super Details"...etc., ALL children received compliments on their hard work.    Stop by our hallway to see our newest published books! Below are a sneak peak of their covers!
